Fees & Insurance

Clear, Straightforward Information

Choosing a counselor is important. Understanding the financial side of counseling should be straightforward, too. Below is an overview of accepted insurance plans, private pay, and what you can expect before your first appointment.

Insurance

Insurance Accepted

Likens Counseling currently accepts:

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oklahoma

Coverage depends on your individual plan. Copays, deductibles, and coinsurance may apply.

Optum / UnitedHealthcare

Many Optum and UnitedHealthcare plans are accepted. Benefits vary based on your employer and specific policy.

Private Pay

If you prefer not to use insurance, or your plan is not accepted, private pay appointments are available.

Insurance coverage varies from plan to plan. Whenever possible, benefits are verified before your first appointment, but clients remain responsible for understanding their individual coverage, including deductibles, copays, coinsurance, and any non-covered services.

Why Some Clients Choose Private Pay

Some clients prefer not to involve insurance because they value additional privacy, have high deductibles, or simply want greater flexibility in treatment. Private pay allows counseling without insurance requirements or diagnosis-driven limitations.

No Surprises

Fees, payment policies, insurance information, and financial questions are reviewed before or during your intake appointment so you know what to expect before beginning treatment.

Fees

Session Fees

Fees are reviewed before or during intake so you know what to expect before starting counseling. If you are using insurance, your final cost depends on your specific plan, including copays, deductibles, and coinsurance.

Initial Intake

The first appointment is used to review your concerns, history, goals, paperwork, and treatment options. Intake appointments may be slightly longer than standard sessions.

Individual Counseling

Ongoing counseling sessions are typically approximately 53–60 minutes and may include practical skill building, trauma-focused work, EMDR therapy, or other evidence-based approaches.

Extended EMDR Sessions

Extended EMDR sessions may be available when clinically appropriate. These are discussed in advance so expectations, timing, and fees are clear.

Do You Verify Insurance?

Whenever possible, insurance benefits are checked before your first appointment. However, insurance verification is not a guarantee of payment. Final coverage decisions are made by your insurance company after claims are processed.

What If My Insurance Does Not Cover Counseling?

If your plan does not cover services, if you have a high deductible, or if you prefer not to use insurance, private pay is available. We can review options before beginning treatment.

Payment

Payment is typically collected through the secure client portal. Copays, coinsurance, deductibles, and private pay balances are generally due at the time of service unless another arrangement has been discussed in advance.

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide as much notice as possible. Late cancellations or missed appointments may result in a fee that is not covered by insurance.

No Surprises Act

Good Faith Estimate

If you are not using insurance, or if you are choosing not to use insurance, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining the expected cost of services. This estimate is intended to help you understand the potential cost of care before treatment begins.

If you receive a bill that is substantially higher than your Good Faith Estimate, you may have rights under the No Surprises Act. Questions about fees, billing, or expected costs can be discussed before services begin.
