About Likens Counseling

Meet David Likens, LPC-S

Counseling should be practical, confidential, and grounded in approaches that help people make meaningful progress.

David Likens, LPC-S, Oklahoma online counselor

A Practical Approach to Counseling

I believe therapy works best when it is collaborative, honest, and useful in everyday life. My goal is not to give generic advice or simply talk around the problem. My goal is to help you better understand what is happening, identify what needs to change, and develop a plan that fits your life.

I work with adults throughout Oklahoma through secure online counseling. My clinical focus includes trauma, anxiety, burnout, EMDR therapy, and specialized counseling for first responders and other professionals who carry significant responsibility.

In addition to private practice, I serve as the Wellness Clinician for the Bartlesville Police Department, where I support law enforcement personnel through confidential counseling, wellness programming, and first responder mental health services.

My Philosophy

Therapy should help you function better in real life.

People often come to counseling after trying to push through stress, trauma, anxiety, or burnout for too long. Many are capable, responsible people who are used to handling things on their own.

Counseling provides space to slow down, make sense of what is happening, and begin working toward change with support that is practical and clinically grounded.

What Sessions Are Like

Straightforward, collaborative, and goal-focused.

Sessions are conversational, but they are also intentional. We will talk through what brought you in, what is getting in the way, and what progress would realistically look like.

Depending on your needs, therapy may include practical coping strategies, trauma-focused work, EMDR therapy, stress management, insight-oriented work, or support through a difficult season of life.

Who I Work With

Support for Adults Throughout Oklahoma

I work with adults who are dealing with trauma, stress, anxiety, depression, burnout, life transitions, and the impact of high-responsibility roles. Many of my clients are professionals, first responders, or people who are used to being the one others rely on.

  • Adults navigating stress, anxiety, or depression
  • People recovering from trauma or distressing experiences
  • First responders and public safety professionals

  • People adjusting to life changes, grief, or relationship stress
